This trip goes through three tunnels, two of which are time controlled, so a prompt 9.00am start is essential. Any delay can result in a one hour wait, which in turn may cause the trip to be curtailed at the skipper’s discretion.
Because of reliability problems with the Anderton Boat Lift (it broke down several times during 2017, stranding our boat on the Weaver on occasion), trips to Anderton Lift will be to the Visitor Centre only, and do not include descent/ascent of the Lift. There is a trip boat which you could use to go on the Lift, but you would have to find your own way back up from the Weaver to the canal, and our boat, if you were unable to ascend the Lift owing to a breakdown, or if you booked a descent only.
There are no locks, eating facilities are available at the Visitor Centre and the Stanley Arms.
It is most important to commence the return sail at the time
stated by the skipper on the day.
This is a full day trip and sailing times must be strictly adhered to.
